Special Lecture on Entrepreneurship Development

 

To give practical knowledge and exposure to the students of functioning of the Enterprises a special lecture by Mr. Prashant Kumar Shrivastava was held on 11th December 2019.

 

Special Classes for competitive exams

 

Special classes for the preparation of competitive exams were organized from the month of August for all the students to help them qualify for professional exams. Mr Adarsh Roushan and Mr. Prashant S were the teachers in charge for guiding the classes. Classes on General Awareness and Aptitude have also been conducted during the session.

 

Workshop on Gender issues and sensitization

 

A one day workshop was organized on Gender issues and sensitization. The session was conducted by Ms. YASHASVI KUMUD, who is currently pursuing her Graduation in B.A. Programme, with Political Science as her discipline in Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi. She has been working on Gender and Child Rights for the past 10 years, in association with SAROKAR, a group working for gender equality and child rights, and has conducted more than 30 Workshops and Seminars with Adolescents, Teachers and College Youth on similar topics. Ms Yashasvi in her session said People are born female or male, but learn to be Girls and Boys who grow into Women and Men. They are taught what the appropriate

behaviour and attitudes, roles and activities are for them, and how they should be related to other people. This learned behaviour is what makes up gender identity, and determines gender roles and responsibilities. Gender Roles vary greatly from one culture to another, and from one Social, Political, and Economic group to another within the same culture.

The session was divided into two sections, the first one dealt with know the difference and the second one dealt with ‘celebrate your existence’. Ms Yashasvi explained the entire concept through activity and she concluded the session with a song depicting the power and rights of women.

The session was attended by teachers and students from five different colleges. The session lasted for about four hours and concluded with lots of positive vibes and light refreshments.

 



Workshop on Personality and professional growth

A workshop on Personality and Professional Growth was organized on 7th September 2019. The resource person on the occasion was Mr. Dinesh Jhariya. Students were taught the qualities of a good personality and the ways to develop it. Students were also oriented to the skills that are required for professional growth. Rev. Dr. Fr. Johnson motivated students to have a decent personality and necessary skills to face the challenges of both personal and professional life.

 

Stress Management Workshop

 

A workshop on Stress Management was organized on 21 January 2020. The guest speaker on the occasion was Mr Ritu Kant Sinha, a President award recipient from M.P. Police. The participants included students from various nearby schools, students of B.A., B.Com., B.Ed., M.Ed. and Teaching and non teaching staff of schools and colleges. The objective of the workshop was to help students and teachers to manage academic and non academic stress and adopt various measures and precautions to deal with stress. The program was co ordinated by Dr. Pallavi Shrivastava. At the end of the session the speaker was felicitated with a memento.

 

How to use the techniques of Skimming and Scanning

Many of us often read things but find it difficult to comprehend and interpret it aptly. Ms. Rony V. Joy, gave an intensive session on how to read a given text while understanding it. She also briefed how to use the techniques of Skimming and Scanning for the purpose. The Students actively participated in the session and were enriched by it.

 

Session on Self Awareness

Self awareness is one of the most important life skills to be taught to the students. Christ College conducted a special session on Self Awareness skill to make the students aware of their strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, emotions and sources of motivation. This session was a part of ‘going beyond curriculum’ and was taken up on 27th November 2019 by Ms. Jaya Saini. The session was attended by the students of B.A., B.Com. B.Ed., and M.Ed.

 

Going beyond curriculum - Special session on Basic college manners and etiquette

In today’s scenario going beyond curriculum has become necessary for developing holistic personality of a student. In lieu of this a special session on basic manners and etiquette was organized. To make the students aware of the desired behaviour that needs to be practiced and to become a decent citizen of the society, Dr Pallavi Shrivastava took the session for students of B.A., B. Com., B.Ed. and M.Ed. The session was organized on 21 October 2019.
